We are committed to making sustainability one of the key drivers of our business strategy, and to ensuring this approach is reflected in the services we deliver to our clients.
We actively support the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact relating to human rights, labour standards, the environment, and the fight against corruption.
Progress on implementing these principles is reported annually to our stakeholders.
In January 2023, we committed to the Science Based Target initiative, the partnership promoted by the UN Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resource Institute (WRI), the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the World Wilde Fund for Nature (WWF)with the aim of reducing CO2 and other climate-altering gas emissions in line with the indications of climate science. This year, we are further solidifying our commitment by defining and then submitting for approval to SBTi both a near-term emission reduction strategy, and long-term targets to reach net-zero by 2050.
RINA's approach to Stakeholder Engagement is defined in our Stakeholder Engagement Policy, published in 2023, which outlines our commitment to building trustful and transparent relationships with all Stakeholders.
We believe that building trustworthy relationships with our Stakeholders is a necessary foundation to develop and improve our long-term sustainability operations and strategy, as well as a vital tool in identifying our impacts, risks and opportunities in greater detail.
We have been a signatory of the UN Global Compact since 2016 and participate in national and international forums dealing with sustainability. These include Fondazione Sodalitas, an Italian partner of CSR Europe, Transparency International and its Italian chapter, the Business Integrity Forum, which supports voluntary initiatives against corruption, and Sustainability Makers, the network of ESG managers of Italian enterprises.
In 2023, we renewed our partnership with Valore D, the first business association in Italy to advocate gender equality and an inclusive corporate culture.
Our path towards sustainability involves both internal and external measures;
