Nowadays across EU there is a real and urgent demand for deep renovation, which means performing a cost-effective refurbishment that reduces both the delivered and final energy consumption of a building.
Moreover, maintaining the vacant buildings is a critical financial burden for public authorities, but demolishing them is often not possible due to high costs as well as critical safety and environmental issues.
P2Endure stands for “Plug-and-Play product and process innovations for energy-efficient building deep renovation”. It is a European collaborative innovation action within a 4-year projects’ duration and it has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 723391.
To face UE’s need for deep renovation, P2Endure promotes innovative solutions that are applicable and replicable for the following range of building typology:
P2Endure promotes evidence-based innovative solutions for deep renovation based on prefabricated plug and play systems in combination with on-site scanning, robotic 3D printing and Building Information Modelling (BIM), demonstrated and monitored at 10 real projects in four geo-clusters with EU-wide replication potential.
RINA developed in the project a semi-automatic BIM-to-BEM (Building Energy Model) procedure based on open source and freeware software and implemented in the refurbishment of an actual heritage building applying the P2ENDURE technologies.
RINA mainly contributes to the project developing a Technology Commercialisation Platform (TCP) whose main purpose is to guarantee a wide impact on replication and market upscaling within P2Endure. The members of TCP come from different EU countries and represent a variety of stakeholders that are interested in applying or marketing the results of P2Endure.
Moreover RINA is involved in promoting the engagement of stakeholders in the e-Marketplace, a platform designed to collect and filter information based on BIM models in order to support the buying, prefabrication and making processes related to building components for deep retrofitting.
In conclusion, P2Endure will have the following main impacts for the construction market and for the European community:
