Energy | 2019 - 2023 | ENI Rovuma Basin | Mozambique |
RINA supported Rovuma Venture in all its geohazard and geotechnical activities during the detailed design phase of offshore facilities. The entire package of geosciences services has been provided within the scope of a 3+1 years of frame agreement.
RINA provided specialist engineering support for the project, assisting in all geohazard and geotechnical services, and related activities.
Our services included:
- Nearshore geophysical and geotechnical survey, laboratory tests, soil unitisation and design parameters.
- Geotechnical modelling and assistance at the nearshore and shelf-break areas. Debris or slab slide impact analyses and soil-structure interaction.
- Probabilistic boulder impact assessment on pipelines and umbilicals including structural damage estimate.
- Development of turbidity current loads for engineering design.
- Micro-siting and routing changes with QRA (Quantitative Risk Assessment).
- Metocean data analysis and interpretation. Tropical cyclones analysis and assessment of induced metocean parameters (wind, wave, current) for engineering design.
The project resulted in the development of cutting-edge solutions for more reliable assessment of those geohazards, such as turbidity currents and slope stability, that could potentially pose greater risks to the facilities. The project shows RINA’s unique technical strengths within its Geosciences team and its capacity to provide innovative solutions.
