The main goal of CISUFLO project is to setup the systemic framework for circular and sustainable ‘floor coverings’ in EU and minimise the total environmental impact of the sector.
With ‘floor coverings’, or simply ‘flooring’, we mainly refer to textile floor coverings or ‘carpet’, resilient floor coverings or ‘vinyl’ and laminates & parquet or ‘wood’.
The systemic framework will allow to align all the steps along the value chain to ensure maximum value retention of the products and the materials for the whole system.
In the framework of this project, RINA will develop an integrated product information system, named ePRODIS, which aims to improve the integration of all datasets available in flooring manufacturing and the tracking of all steps that transform the flows of recycled materials into secondary raw material.
The key to this new system is the creation of a connection between the product information and the product itself. This will let the users have a lot of new information referring to the product for example information about the cleaning or maintenance of the products.
CISUFLO aims to increase the reuse of materials, increase circularity and sustainability in the field of textile, laminate and vinyl flooring. Furthermore, thanks to the development of the ePRODIS platform, it aims to create a data management system and generate a digital passport for each product.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No 101003893
