The Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA) has conducted extensive studies and made substantial investments in expanding and enhancing wastewater management facilities. Given the significant growth and urbanization of Addis Ababa over the past decade, there is an urgent need to update the city's wastewater management vision, originally established in the 2002 Sanitation Master Plan. Therefore, under the World Bank-funded Second Ethiopian Urban Water and Sanitation Project (UWSSP-II), developing a new Master Plan is essential. This plan aims to achieve AAWSA's overarching goals of providing adequate and affordable wastewater management and meeting the objectives of the Ethiopian Government's Growth and Transformation Plan II (GTP II).
