The main objective of the FIBRESHIP project is to create a new EU-market to build complete large-length ships in FRP (Fibre-Reinforced Polymers) enabling its massive application. In order to achieve this objective, the project will develop, identify and qualify FRP materials for different applications in particular for long-term structural strength and fire resistance
Address the regulatory aspects of the study, providing the national and international regulatory framework applicable to the use of FRP materials to large-length vessels, developing the project and production guidelines, assessing and validating the new designs and validating the numerical and simulation tools useful for the new designs.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s H2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No 723360.
FIBRESHIP aims to fill the actual technology gaps and make the use of composite materials ready for building complete hulls and superstructures of large ships (length >50 m).
To this end, FIBRESHIP will develop, qualify and audit innovative FRP materials for marine applications, elaborate new design and production guidelines and procedures, generate efficient production and inspection methodologies, and develop new validated software analysis tools.
