Challenge

The Action aims to harmonize, simplify and internationalise procedures for placing into operation ERTMS products and subsystems.

Approach

The Action, gathering a number of NSAs and NoBos (as RINA) from different Member States, will analyse the ERTMS authorisation procedures (in few member states) and propose
a single simplified and harmonised procedure.

Conclusion

The Action groups and coordinates research and development activities supporting the implementation of ERTMS, in line with the applicable EU law and policy.
It gathers a number of railway sector stakeholders, encompasses tasks addressing, among others, ERTMS specifications maintenance, facilitation of testing, validation and authorization placing vehicles in operation, the system backwards compatibility analysis, etc..
